Questions
Can I take my dog camping in New Zealand?
Yes, at some campsites. DOC lists 48 campsites where dogs are allowed, mostly on a leash. Holiday parks set their own rules, so ask when you book.
Why are dogs banned at most DOC campsites?
To protect native birds and other wildlife. Rules are set per area, and DOC's pets page explains them.
