Privacy policy

Last updated 25 August 2026

What this site collects, why, who else sees it, and how to get rid of it. In plain language, because a policy nobody can read is not a disclosure.

The short version

  • You can browse and search the whole board without giving us anything.
  • Your watchlist, votes and region live in your own browser, not on our server, unless you give us an email address.
  • The only personal information we ask for is an email address, and only if you want price-drop alerts.
  • We do not sell personal information, and we do not run advertising trackers or analytics profiling on this site.
  • Every alert email has a one-click unsubscribe that works without logging in.

Who is responsible

This site is operated by [legal or trading name] ([ABN/NZBN, or "not registered"]), contactable at [email protected]. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and, for New Zealand visitors, the Information Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 2020 (NZ).

What is collected

Stored in your browser, not sent to us

Your watchlist and price targets, your up and down votes, deals you have posted, and your region and filter preferences are saved in your browser's local storage on your own device. They stay there. Clearing your browser data removes them, and using a different device gives you a clean board.

Your email address, if you ask for alerts

If you turn on price-drop alerts, we store the email address you enter, alongside the items you are watching and the target prices you set. That is the whole record. We do not ask for your name, your phone number, your address, or anything else, and there is no account or password.

It is used for one thing: emailing you when a price you asked to be told about changes. It is not used for marketing, is not added to any newsletter, and is not shared with retailers or anyone else.

Deals you post

If you post a deal to the community board, what you type is published on the site. Do not put personal details in it.

Server logs

Our server and our hosting provider keep ordinary technical logs — IP address, time, the page requested, browser type. They exist to keep the site running and to deal with abuse, and are kept for a short period and then discarded.

Cookies and tracking

This site does not set advertising cookies and does not run a third-party analytics profile of you. Preferences are held in local storage rather than cookies.

Clicking through to a retailer is a different matter: that retailer's affiliate network will usually set its own cookie so a purchase can be attributed to the referral. That happens on their side under their own policies. See the affiliate disclosure.

Who else handles your information

Sending an email necessarily means our email provider processes your address, which can involve storage or transit outside Australia and New Zealand. We take reasonable steps to use providers that handle personal information in a way consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles. Beyond that, personal information is not disclosed to anyone, and it is never sold.

How long it is kept

Your email address and watches are kept until you unsubscribe or ask for deletion, at which point they are deleted rather than deactivated. Records of alerts already sent are removed with them. Server logs are kept only as long as they are useful for running the site.

Stopping alerts, and deleting your data

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. There are no user accounts and no passwords to steal, and no payment information is ever collected — every purchase happens on the retailer's own site, not here. Stored data is limited to what is described above. No system is perfect, and if a breach ever affected your information we would tell you and the relevant regulator as required under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme and the NZ Privacy Act.

Children

This site is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Complaints

If you think your privacy has been mishandled, email us first and we will try to sort it out. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au) or, in New Zealand, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (privacy.org.nz).

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. If a change materially affects how your information is used, existing alert subscribers will be told by email.
